Accessibility statement

My Bail Helper is used by people in urgent, stressful situations, often on a phone in the middle of the night. We treat accessibility as part of getting that job done.

Conformance target

We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. This is a self-assessed, VPAT-style statement: we believe the site substantially conforms, and we fix reported barriers as they are found.

What we have implemented

A “Skip to main content” link as the first focusable element on every page.
Keyboard operability with a visible focus indicator on links, buttons and inputs.
Text alternatives for meaningful images and accessible names on icon-only controls.
Labels or accessible names on all form fields, including search boxes and acknowledgment checkboxes.
Body text that meets a 4.5:1 contrast ratio against our navy backgrounds, and 3:1 for large text.
Sequential heading structure and a single main landmark per page.
A visible text description next to every video ad player, so the content of a video placement is available without audio or sight.
Responsive layouts that work at 200% zoom and on small screens.

Known limitations

Advertiser-uploaded videos are supplied by third parties. Advertisers can upload a WebVTT (.vtt) caption file with their ad, and when they do, real captions play in the video player and can be toggled with the CC control. We do not generate captions automatically, so when no caption file is supplied the visible text alternative next to the player remains the fallback.
The optional machine-translation widget is a third-party Google service and its interface is outside our control.

Email admin@mybailhelper.com with the page address and what happened. We aim to respond within five business days and will offer the information in another format if a fix takes longer.
